Pink Floyd tribute band to play in Idaho Falls Friday
This Friday at the Colonial Theater in Idaho Falls, there’s a chance for you to go back in time. A chance to revisit your rock and roll roots. A Pink Floyd tribute band, A Few More Bricks will be putting on ‘The Wall.’ It’s one of the most popular Pink Floyd albums. This is the fourth year the all local group has honored the iconic rock group. We caught up with them during a rehearsal in a potato warehouse. Where else? They are fantastic!
Tim Egan, Robert Spence, and Russ Thompson paused during practice to tell us a little about themselves. They have 40-hour traditional jobs as a designer of steel structures, a teacher of nuclear operations, and a software consultant . Then they put in another 40-hour work week practicing for their yearly Pink Floyd concert.
Pink Floyd was considered one of the best rock groups in rock and roll history, being very progressive and using incredible light shows to help excite the audience.
These men and their friends have spent $14,000 to get the right lights to create a real Pink Floyd effect.
“He’s a rock star that gets disillusioned with his fans and he feels no connection to them because he’s playing larger and larger venues,” says lead vocalist Tim Egan. ” So to get through a particularly rough tour, he builds a wall between him and the audience. An imaginary wall. “
“A million years from now,” says Robert Spence, guitarist, ” archeologists could pick up a copy of Pink Floyd The Wall and listen to the lyrics and say you know what, that still applies to us, a million years later. Because we all build psychological isolations from things that bother us. “
Ten percent of the proceeds from Friday night’s concert will go to The Haven shelter in Idaho Falls. Director of the shelter, Anne Johnson says, ” I wasn’t a Pink Floyd fan. That’s the truth. I am now.”
