Idaho Falls man arrested for threatening people with a gun

The Idaho Falls Police arrested 35-year-old Cory C. Bates for aggravated assault and discharging a firearm within city limits Friday night.

Bates of Idaho Falls was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.

According to reports, officers responded to the 1100 block of Canyon around 9:15 p.m. after it was reported Bates shot a gun and was threatening people.

Bates got into an argument with an 18-year-old woman at the residence. During the argument, Bates asked the female to leave the residence. The female, along with her friend, left the residence.

The woman reported to police that as she was standing outside with her friend, Bates came out of the residence with a handgun. He yelled at them to leave and pointed the gun at them. He then shot the gun into the ground.
