ISU has Kiss-a-Puppy day on campus

You’ve heard of a kissing booth, but what about kissing puppies?

That’s what Idaho State University had on campus Wednesday as part of its military and veteran appreciation week. The puppies were there to bring awareness to post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injuries.

The Kiss-a-Puppy was organized by ISU’s Veteran Student Services. Students filled the fenced area to pet and play with the puppies.

Students said it was a great stress reliever as they get closer to finals week. Veteran services said dogs are great for veterans, because it gives them a sense of responsibility and belonging.

Casey Cornelius, a veteran who works with ISU Veteran Student Services, said having dogs has made all the difference for him.

“The best thing that’s happened to me through all the therapy or anything that I’ve been through or tried is getting my two dogs,” said Cornelius. “And I would recommend it to anybody.”

ISU’s military appreciation week will wrap up Friday with the military ball at 7 p.m.
