Fremont school board names new superintendent

A one-time Buhl educator has been selected by the Fremont School Board as the district’s new Superintendent.

Byron Stutzman accepted the position by phone Thursday night. He has been superintendent of the Crook County, Wyoming school district in Sundance, Wyoming for three years.

Stutzman was selected from a group of five finalists to replace retiring Superintendent Garry Parker, whose contract expires at the end of June.

School Board Trustee Bonnie Moon said the board was looking for a leader who could help the northern and southern ends of the school district collaborate. She said the district also sought someone who could communicate with patrons and incorporate their input on education issues.
