POW-MIA Association says rally will go on this summer

The POW-MIA Awareness Association says it is ready to move forward with its 16th Annual Awareness Rally and Motorcycle Rally at the Pocatello Raceway.

Spokesperson Heidi Young said, “We are feeling good about the new partnerships that have been established with the City of Pocatello and we are happy that the event will stay in Pocatello; and while it may look a little different, we are still going to be able to do what we have always done best, educate the public about the POW/MIA issue and have fun doing it in a safe family and Veteran friendly environment.”

The Pocatello City Council laid out conditions for the event during meetings with the group last week, after hearing concerns from law enforcement and the Pocatello Airport about security issues.

The stipulations included an approved security plan, a $50,000 bond, and an agreement requiring the association to pay all law enforcement costs. It would also allow the city to revoke its permission at any time during the event.

The rally is scheduled July 29-30 at the Pocatello Raceway.
