Food Basket gearing up for tomorrow’s Letter Carrier Food Drive

The 24th annual Letter Carriers’ Food Drive is Saturday, and Friday the Chamber of Commerce stopped by the Idaho Falls Community Food Basket to recognize their contributions to the area.

Kicking off tomorrow’s food drive with a ribbon-cutting, Chamber of Commerce ambassadors and community members gathered Friday by the building to celebrate its impact to the Idaho Falls community.

The food basket is a crucial agency in the community that has helped many families stay afloat and avoid hunger. Tomorrow’s food drive will ramp up the supply needed for summer when schools are out of session and more children need access to food.

“I think one of the reasons why this organization is so vital is that it really helps the community take care of the children who are food-insecure. There are a lot of families who the Community Food Basket is serving, up to 1,000 each month,” said Michelle Ziel-Dingman chamber of commerce ambassador.

District 2 Commissioner Dave Radford added,”These are the kind of things that make the quality of life here in eastern Idaho so wonderful, one of the reasons why people are moving here and love to live here in Bonneville County.”

Make sure you leave nonperishable food items in a bag by the mailbox tomorrow morning (Saturday, May 14) before 9 a.m.
