Polling Preperations

The primary election is Tuesday, and the biggest concern is how many Idahoans will actually participate. The worry is there isn’t really an attention grabbing race to attract people to the polls.

“A lot of people don’t now there’s an election,” Bonneville County Elections Supervisor Penny Manning said. “They voted on the president in March, and they’re saying ‘What? There’s an election?'”

She said even people who know about the election sometimes don’t turn out because they don’t know who to vote for or they don’t want t affiliate with a party.

“This is a party primary where you need to affiliate to vote for the particular candidates,” Manning said. “So usually it’s either a party issue, or they just don’t understand even the importance of our local leaders.”

The polls open at 8 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
