Tapp advocates holding forum examining polygraphs, confession

The effort to exonerate a man convicted of an Idaho Falls murder is gaining momentum.

Since his 1998 conviction, various advocacy groups have questioned if Christopher Tapp really killed Angie Dodge.

There is a free forum Tuesday night at 6:30 at ARTitorium on Broadway in Downtown Idaho Falls. Judge Mike Heavey (Ret.) and co-founder of Judges for Justice will present information on the Tapp case to the public. The idea is to let people decide for themselves if they think Tapp is really guilty.

Heavey says Tapp confessed to the murder because he was coerced during polygraph exams. Judges for Justice has put out multiple videos showing the polygraphs and interrogations.

“As you see over time, you see he tells six different and distinct stories. And you wonder, how did he go from that one to that one,” Heavey said. “In those polygraph videos, you see clear coercion and exactly why he changed his stories. He was he never knew anything about that crime and he was never involved he’s absolutely innocent.”
