Sentencing for kidnapping suspect delayed until June

A Bonneville Judge granted Devin Crawford a continuance due to pending charges Crawford accumulated while in county jail.

This is the second time Crawford’s sentencing has been continued. Charges of witness intimidation along with bringing in contraband into the jail were filed back in February.

Judge Bruce Pickett approved the request and said he hopes this is the last time the case gets continued.

“I will continue the matter so Crawford can adequately defend himself,” Pickett said.

Defense Attorney for Crawford, Kelly Mallard said both parties including the county prosecutor are re-working a plea deal and it’s up to Crawford to accept it or refuse it.

“My client threw a sock full of dominoes at Ivan Sandoval and it missed him,” Mallard said.

As for the contraband charge, Mallard argues the dominoes and sock were property within the jail.

“The sock and dominoes are being looked at as contraband, however, they were already in the jail,” Mallard said.

Crawford is scheduled to face sentencing June 14 at 1:30 p.m.
