Property search of missing toddler’s family members conducted
Update 6/23/2016 3:05 pm: Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office has issued a statement on their involvement with the recent searched for DeOrr Kunz Jr.
On June 19th, Bonneville County Sheriff’s office assisted Lemhi County Sheriff’s Office with the search by pointing out potential search locations in the Leadore area for the Klein Investigations team to continue with their investigation.
On June 22nd, 2016, Bonneville County Sheriff’s office assisted in communicating with Trina Clegg and Klein Investigations who wanted to search the Clegg residence. The Sheriff’s Office did not assist Klein Investigations with the actual search and was not present at that time or for any other searches in the Idaho Falls area relating to this case.
The sheriff’s office says any information that all other information and details on the case will be deferred to Lemhi County Sheriff’s Office.
Original Story: A cadaver dog could be seen searching the property of family members of DeOrr Kunz Jr. Wednesday night.
According to grandmother, Trina Bates Clegg, Bonneville County sheriff’s deputies asked to search her home after the sheriff’s office received a Facebook tip.
The grandmother tells Local News 8 and KIDK Eyewitness News that the search was voluntary and no search warrant was involved.
Local News 8/KIDK is told the search is a combined effort between KIC Texas, Bonneville and Lemhi County.
Earlier Wednesday, Klein Investigations, a private investigation company out of Texas, searched the campground where the toddler disappeared with cadaver dogs.
DeOrr Kunz Jr. disappeared from a campground near Leadore, Idaho July 10, 2015. he was two-years-old at the time. His parents and other family members claim they do not know what happened to him. A search for the missing boy has been off and on since that time.
The Following was a statement released by Klein Investigations and Consulting:
“Statement by Philip R Klein, senior investigator on the DeOrr Kunz Jr. case:On Sunday, June 19, 2016, investigators with KIC Texas and Investigators from the State of Georgia, Bonneville county sheriffs department, and Lemhi county sheriffs department conducted a 4 day search which included areas in and around the city of Leadore and the Timber Creek Campground.
Investigators did recover evidence related to the DeOrr Kunz Jr. case.
On June 22, 2016, investigators, including a cadaver dog, arrived in the city of Idaho Falls, Idaho and conducted searches of two homes. At one home, evidence was collected and taken into custody. At the second location, no evidence was found or established.
Investigators would like to make it clear that the cadaver dog has cleared the residence owned by Jeremy and Trina Clegg. Their vehicles and all surrounding buildings have been cleared.
Based upon all search efforts and strong evidence collected over the last 5 days at multiple locations, intentional homicide HAS NOW NOT been ruled out.”
