Idaho Falls man arrested for battery of an officer

Avery B. Tusch, 21, of Idaho Falls was arrested Thursday for felony battery on a police officer.

Police were called to a home in the 100 block of Seventh Street at 1:10 p.m. on report of a possible overdose. Officers and EMS responders found Tusch was highly intoxicated and were concerned he had taken several ibuprofen pills.

Tusch refused to be taken to the hospital, but officers decided to take him into protective custody. As they attempted to do that, Tusch struck an officer on the left side of the face, then grabbed the officer around the neck and put him into a choke hold. Another officer helped free the policeman from Tusch.

Tusch was eventually taken to the hospital. After he was cleared at the hospital, Tusch was booked into the Bonneville County jail.
