Race to get construction done for Grace Lutheran High School
The high school building and the Mountain View Event Center (MEC) stood half way completed Tuesday, but much has yet to be done still. Executive Director at the Grace Lutheran School, Robert Raschke says a good construction team is on board and is working six days a week to facilitate the completion. The first day of school is August 22nd.
As of October of 2014, before any structures were standing, the school had 20-25 freshmen students in line and ready to enroll for the Fall semester of 2016. According to the school’s plan, they are only starting out with freshmen this first year, and then adding another grade each year. Many people throughout the community are thrilled to have the private school option.
“As far as building goes, we’re pushing hard, we’re getting it ready to go. We’re getting classrooms set up. So when that first day of school starts, it’ll be ready for them,” said Raschke.
The construction began about 2 years ago and has been progressing ever since. Another under construction is the MEC, which he says is also on track. The MEC will hold trade shows, athletic events and concerts when completed. Its target date to open is Fall of 2016.
“Currently, concrete is going down on the floor, the metal surround of the building is going up, electrical, plumbing and all parts. Lots of moving pieces right now in that project. And again, excited for the opportunity to have that facility to be here for south eastern Idaho residents to utilize that facility.”E
