Silver Rose comes to St. Anthony for the first time

Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in St. Anthony will hold a procession to bring attention to the right to life.

It’s part of the annual Running of the Rose.

“We defend the life as Christians, as believers,” said Father Adrian Vazquez. “We defend life in every stage.”

The Catholic Church of North America and The Knights of Columbus have been doing the Running of the Rose since 1960. Currently there are six silver roses that travel across Canada, the United States and Mexico.

This is the first time the Silver Rose has come to Saint Anthony.

Those with Mary Immaculate are encouraging people of all faiths to come out and participate.

“Life is so sacred. It’s nothing about ‘I want to convert you,’ or something that in which I’m going to get more people nothing about that, no. This a march for life and anybody can,” Vazquez said. “It’s just a great opportunity to show to the whole world that we care about life.”

The procession starts at 7 p.m. Friday just down the street from Mary Immaculate in St. Anthony.
