Jackson man bound on two 1st degree murder charges

39-year-old Erik Martin Ohlson has been bound to 7th District Court to face two counts of first-degree murder. Ohlson was arraigned on the charge in Driggs Friday.

The Jackson, Wyoming man is charged with the first degree murder of 39-year-old Jennifer Nalley, whose body was found at her residence on July 5. He was also charged with the death of her unborn child.

Ohlson is scheduled to appear before 7th District Judge Greg Moeller on September 6th.

Seven witnesses testified in Ohlson’s hearing, including law enforcement officers who investigated the crime scene. The court also heard a taped interview in which Ohlson admitted shooting her.

One of the people who spoke in court, Erin Landry, a friend of Ohlson and Nalley’s talked about text messages sent between her and Ohlson. Some of them were threatening in nature. Landry said she felt her friend was frustrated and several of the text messages she did not respond to. Landry at one point also told him to stay out of contact with her.

Some of the threatening text messages said things like Ohlson wanting to witness her final moments of life and one even saying something along the lines of the biggest mistake he made was having sex with her.

The Deputy prosecutor says cases like this are not very common in the area.

“I think someone was telling me the last homicide prosecution was in 1997 obviously long before I started doing this, “said Chris Lundburg, Deputy Prosecutor for Teton County. “These things happen it’s certainly not a frequent occurance but at the end of the day it’s the same job we do everyday,” said Lundburg.
