Suspect wanted for double murder arrested in Blackfoot

UPDATE : 8/16/16 2:20 p.m.

Idaho State Police assisted in the arrest of the 44-year-old Delgado.

ISP said detectives received information that Delgado was traveling southbound on I-15 this morning. Detectives located a man driving a black Dodge Dart that matched Delgado’s description. The vehicle was displaying stolen license plates.

Detectives followed Delgado to parking lot where he was taken into custody at 12:02 p.m. without incident.

Delgado was booked into the Bingham County Jail.

Detectives are working with the Spokane Valley Police Department to secure search warrants for the vehicle and to extradite Delgado back to Washington to face charges there.

UPDATE 1:20 p.m.: Police have arrested the suspect wanted for killing two people in Spokane Valley, Washington in Blackfoot.

Gilberto Delgado was arrested Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Taco Bell on Parkway Drive in Blackfoot. He was arrested by a U.S. Marshal.

Bingham County Sheriff’s office said Idaho State Police spotted Delgado’s vehicle on I-15 near Roberts. They followed him to the Taco Bell where they arrested him.

Police in Washington State are looking for a man from southern Idaho who killed two people in Spokane Valley Monday.

KREM-TV reports police are they’re looking for Gilberto Delgado, 44. They said he was the estranged boyfriend of one of the victims killed. Delgado has ties to Power County.

The victims are brother and sister. Spokane County deputies said the brother owned the home and the sister was staying there with him at the time. They said Delgado showed up to the home Monday.

A 7-year-old boy called police after the shooting the happened.

Delgado is described as a Hispanic male, six feet tall, 155 pounds with brown eyes and a shaved head. They said he has the name “Brenda” tattooed on one of his forearms. He may be driving a newer, black Dodge Dart with dark tinted windows and red striping.

He is consider him armed and dangerous. Police said he could be heading back to the Pocatello area.

Delgado has a history of charges in Power County. He was previously in jail for Aggravated Assault and was released in October 2015. He was currently on parole, according to Idaho Department of Correction documents. His original sentence kept him in custody until October 2019, documents said.

May 1996: Sentenced to 1-3 years for Injury to a Child
August 1998: Sentenced 2-5 years for escape
August 2008: Sentenced 2-7 years for Grand Theft by Possession
September 2010: Sentenced to 5 years for escape
September 2010: Sentenced 6-10 years for aggravated assault
October 2010: Sentenced 2-7 for Grand Theft
