ISU hosts 6th annual Tree Lighting Festival

Idaho State University students and families around town gathered in the university’s quad Tuesday night to see the Christmas tree lights turn on.

This is the Tree Lighting Festival’s sixth year and was started when a group of students wanted to start decorating the campus for the holidays. It’s completely free for anyone in the community to attend.

When the lights are turned on, ISU’s choral singers begin singing Christmas classics. There was also several photo ops with the tree and a chair made of ice.

The festivities continued inside the Pond Student Union. Everyone was welcome to some treats, hot chocolate to warm up to and even a chance to sit on Santa Claus’ lap.

The first 200 to enter the ballroom got an ISU ornament to hang on their Christmas tree.
