Cody Parmer’s story of survival
Dozens of people showed up for a book signing Saturday at Snake River Landing. The sought-after book is called “After the Miracle: The Cody Parmer Story. Parmer and his family were there signing books and sharing their story.
“They just decided to tell my story in hopes that we can help inspire other people to, even when times get tough, don’t give up,” Parmer said.
In 1999, a car accident almost took Parmer’s life. The family says through faith, pray and medicine Parmer survived. Unfortunately, he had a hidden hemorrhage in his brain which caused him to be later declared brain dead. Doctors told the family to take him off life support, but the family wouldn’t — wanting to give him a little more time. Parmer woke up three months later, and his story became this book that his mom and dad wrote together.
“I had to work extremely hard. But because of my great family, I owe them 99.9 percent of the credit, I was able to get up out of the wheelchair and walk and talk again,” Parmer said.
