Pocatello flag design gets world-wide attention

Pocatello’s call for new designs of the city’s flag caught attention across the world.

The city’s Ad-Hoc Flag Design Committee received 709 design proposals by the December 2 deadline.

There were 514 entries from eastern Idaho, but individuals in 31 states and 26 foreign countries also contributed designs.

“In the past three months, we’ve seen our city and this effort to go from worst to first discussed from Indonesia to Norway, across the United States, and everywhere in between,” said Committee Chair Logan McDougall.

The submissions will be turned over to a panel of experts tasked with selecting the best to be brought to the public for their comments. Using that input, the committee will then design or select a new flag design for presentation to the City Council for adoption.
