Pack your patience when traveling through the holidays
The peak day for outbound travel is today but holiday travel will continue to be busy up through Christmas and after.
The trade group Airlines for America expects a record 45.2 million passengers from Dec. 16 through Jan. 5. That will cap what’s expected to be the busiest year ever for air travel in the United States.
Some parts of the United State are already experiencing severe weather. A storm in the west is predicted to be hitting the Midwest come this Christmas, and along with that comes major flight delays.
According to the FlightAware flight tracking website, 440 flights have been canceled so far Friday, and more than 100 of them are within, into or out of the United States. There are more than 6,700 delays — more than 1,100 of which involve U.S. flights.
More than a dozen states are under some kind of winter watch, warning or advisory.
