Drive sober or get pulled over, police say
The Idaho State Police Department said it’s planning to join other law enforcement agencies in the state in a “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” national campaign this month.
The drunken driving crackdown initiative is slated to run Dec. 15 to Jan. 1. said Idaho State Police Lt. Chris Weadick. “The department’s officers will be out in force to arrest drunken drivers” in an effort to improve safety,” said Weadick.
Lt. Weadick also wanted to remind people that buzz driving is drunk driving.
The department is also giving a few safety tips:
Choose a sober designated driver before you start drinking. If you’re feeling buzzed, you shouldn’t drive. Take a bus or taxi, or ask a sober friend to drive you home. Or contact an Uber to take you home.
Under Idaho State law, sobriety checkpoints also known as DUI checkpoints, are illegal and not conducted.
