Suspect arrested in Preston bank robbery

UPDATE: 1-10-17 4:30 p.m.

The FBI has arrested Dakota Walker, 20, in connection with a string of bank robberies in several states, including Idaho.

Walker was arrested in Ogden, Utah.

The robberies apparently include recent bank robberies in Malad and Preston.

The FBI’s Northern Utah Criminal Apprehension Team (NUCAT) and the Ogden Police Department made the arrest outside Walker’s home at around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Federal charges are pending.

The FBI said several agencies were involved with the investigation, including the Preston Police Department and the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office in Malad.

The Preston Police Department is investigating a robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank, located on North State Street in Preston.

The robbery happened Monday afternoon around 3:00 p.m.

Police say a black male wearing a black hoodie walked in and gave a note to a teller demanding money.

The man left with an undisclosed amount of money. It is believed he left in a white sedan possibly with Utah plates.

Police said before going into the Wells Fargo Bank the man went to the U.S. Bank and asked about a bank account and left.

The FBI is helping the Preston Police Department with this investigation

This marks the tenth burglary or robbery in Preston since early October. In early October, five businesses were burglarized overnight. Then in late November, three more businesses were hit. And again in late December, another two businesses were burglarized, as well as a car stolen.
