District 91 to seek approval of supplemental override
UPDATE: 1-12-17
The Idaho Falls School Board will ask voters to approve a $6.8 million supplemental levy at the polls March 14.
Board members approved a resolution Wednesday asking patrons to renew the levy. The levy has been in place for more than 30 years but must be renewed every two years.
According to Superintendent George Boland, the levy has been a critical part of the district’s operating budget.
“Recruiting the highest quality teachers and staff is more challenging than ever with the ongoing teacher shortage and competition from other states,” said Boland. “The supplemental levy is an important part of the district’s efforts to hire and retain the very best teachers.”
All eligible voters living within District 91’s boundaries can vote in the election. More information about voting precincts is available here.

Idaho Falls School District 91 will be discussing the renewal of its supplemental levy in a board meeting Wednesday night.
This is the same levy that has been in place for about 20 years. The current levy will expire soon, so a renewal must take place. The board isn’t looking for any changes to it, this is simply a renewal the board is discussing.
“The resolution that will be before the board, is the same resolution that they passed two years to renew the supplemental levy. It would be $6.8 million a year for two years. It’s on the agenda tonight, because it has to go to the county by January 23rd,” school district No. 91 superintendent George Boland said.
If the board passes the renewal, the levy will be on the March 2017 election ballot. This will not increase your taxes.
