CenturyLink outage affects 5,000 customers in Rigby and Rexburg

UPDATE 1/14/2017 12:34 p.m.

A CenturyLink representative said service is back on for everyone except for one fiber line, right outside of Rexburg.

Crews are working around the clock to get services back on.

The representative said you can call tech support at ( 877) 348-9005 for further questions about the outage.

If you have a DSL modem and your service is still out, you are advised to unplug your model for about 15 seconds before turning it back on.

UPDATE 1/13/2017 6:53 p.m.: CenturyLink says due to the location of the cut and weather conditions restoration of service is estimated to be between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

Nearly 5,000 CenturyLink customers in Rexburg and Rigby are without internet and phone services because a fiber cable supplying those areas was cut by a third party.

The outage was first detected Thursday night and technicians worked through the night to find where the problem originated. Crews are on site now working to repair the cable and they expect to have services back online by 6 p.m. Friday.
