Man charged with murder in Idaho Falls apartment shooting

An Idaho Falls man has been charged with second-degree murder after the shooting death of a 32-year-old man Saturday evening.

Idaho Falls police spokeswoman Joelyn Hansen says Justin C. Sarbaum, 36, was booked into the Bonneville County jail early Sunday morning. In a news release, Hansen said Sarbaum and the victim were in a fight prior to the fatal shooting.

“According to reports, officers responded to a “shots fired” call in the 2700 block of St. Clair Road
just after 5 p.m. on Saturday.,” Hansen wrote. “Officers arrived and found the 32‐year‐old deceased man in Sarbaum’s apartment from apparent gunshot wounds.”

An autopsy is scheduled in Boise for the victim.

The case is still being investigated.
