ISU students, community, gather for Martin Luther King Jr. march

The cold weather did not stop the community and Idaho State University students from getting together for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. march.

Participants in the march said the event symbolized everything that Dr. King stood for, like justice, peace and equality.

“Dr. King was one of my heroes and what he said and what he did was truly awesome, I mean to change a nation to bring a nation together and bring awareness to a nation and to tell us hey we are not treating people right and we need to”, commented Ram Eddings, the ISU coordinator for the Diversity Resource Center.

A group at the march was also there to support transgender women of color.

“The sign that I have specifically pertains to transgender women of color because they are often targeted for not only being transgender but also for being black or other women of color,” said Mike Chen.

Chen added, that we should not be afraid to come together to support one another no matter our ethnicity.

The march started at the Holt Arena and ended at the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center.
