Ammon and Idaho Falls encourage people to stay home
The city of Ammon asked its residents to stay home, if at all possible, Tuesday. Ctiy crews are plowing and planned to be in neighborhoods later in the day. Anybody with cars on the street was encouraged to move them or risk being plowed in. In Idaho Falls, plowing crews were called in at 1 a.m. Tuesday to begin plowing priority 1 and 2 streets. Crews are moving on to plow Zone A, north-south streets. Idaho Falls is also discouraging travel if not absolutely necessary. Parking restrictions are still in place. People are asked to remove all vehicles from city roadways or risk towing at the owner’s expense.
Idaho Falls budgeted $1,058,000 for snow removal in Fiscal Year 2017. As of January 19, 2017, the city has spent $918,748. Last year, the city budgeted about the same amount and spent a total of $979,475.
