Snow doesn’t have mercy on parking lots

Most of the schools south of Jefferson County were closed today, and parking lots were packed with snow instead of cars.

The was such a large amount of snow, it required at least two people to push a news car out of the snow, even with four-wheel drive.

A local business owner was dealing with the same situation.

If you were like most of the people in Idaho Falls on Tuesday morning, you were probably burning rubber in a parking lot full of snow, or even shoveling your way out of the snow.

That is exactly what Paula Ochoa was doing in front of her business today. “We have been cleaning for almost three hours,” Ochoa said.

Which is not long for her because at this time last year, it took her two days to clear out the snow.

“We cleaned yesterday and today, I don’t know for how long, but now we have three hours of cleaning. Last year, we cleaned for two days,” Ochoa said.

Ochoa owns Carniceria and Moye’z Food, in Idaho Falls and said all the snow in her parking lot is keeping people from coming to her shops.

“I clean my place so that everybody can come to it. Yeah, but the people, especially the people who have a small car, it’s hard for them to come in,” she said.

Regardless of how much snow there was, she is still staying positive.

“I love the snow,” Ochoa said.
