Terry Street in Pocatello closed because of a possible sink hole
Pocatello Police have closed East Terry from 19th Street to University Avenue because of a traffic hazard which the road department said is a developing sinkhole.
A water break in the area a week ago caused water and gravel to run downhill on Terry Street until it found an outlet. That outlet became the small sinkhole.
The hole is a few feet deep and several feet long underneath the road.
The road department said holes like this are common, especially with all the recent flooding and runoff. The water department will go in and excavate and compact the hole to repair it.
The road department said drivers will likely see more holes like this popping up in the next several days. The water department will monitor them and fix them as quick as possible.
There is no word yet on when Terry Street will be open, but crews are working to fix the problem as soon as possible.
In the meantime, drivers should avoid the area and use alternate routes.
