Detailed Forecast for February 21, 2017

Scattered showers will stick around out ahead of a cold front which blows through later today. Winds will be quite gusty and strong at times before things start to subside overnight. Colder air returns for the middle and end of the week and with moisture hanging around that means light snow accumulations are possible for even the Snake River Plain. Tuesday, another wet and cool day with strong morning winds. Models are showing that we could see wind gusts between 40-50 mph in some places, so hang on to your hats. Temperatures will be a bit warmer. Daytime highs will be above average, topping out in the 30’s through the upper 40’s with a possible 50 in the lower Snake River Plain. Snow levels will stay high, averaging around 7500 feet. Tonight, some partial clearing as things try to dry out for a brief period. Winds will subside and temps expected to drop to the 20’s and low 30’s. Chance of snow 30%. Wednesday, a few lingering showers with slightly cooler temps. Daytime highs will be in the 30’s with a few spots bumping into the 40’s. Snow levels will also drop, but we don’t expect any decent snow totals outside the mountains.

Thursday, A 50% chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 30°. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
