2 year old dies after Rose Pond accident
A two-year-old girl died at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center after rescuers pulled her from under water Monday night. The girl, identified as Brynlie Carver of Blackfoot, was pulled from an SUV that was found in the water at Rose Ponds. According to Sheriff Craig Rowland, officers were called at 5:56 p.m. Officers located the driver, identified as Cheyenne Rane,21, a passenger, 24-year-old Blake Carver, and Paitynn Carver, 3, all of Blackfoot. Rane told deputies there was another child in the vehicle. Search and Rescue divers were called and arrived at the scene about 22 minutes later. A relative of Blake Carver said the man rescued his wife and 3-year-old daughter from the water. She said Carver dived back into the water several times, but could not reach his 2-year-old daughter. He had to be held back by deputies from continuing his efforts, according to the relative. Divers pulled Brynlie from the SUV and handed her to EMT’s. Emergency technicians flew the girl to EIRMC by helicopter. The sheriff’s office said the driver was on a gravel bar covered in water and slipped off into the hole. Investigation is continuing.
