Locals celebrate National Pancake Day at IHOP

Pancakes and children. These are two things going hand in hand Tuesday.

In honor of National Pancakes Day, IHOP celebrated by offering free pancakes.

Local News 8/KIDK visited the Ammon restaurant where the lines were to the door.

The manager said over 700 people have showed up, so far.

Those who dined-in had a chance to have free pancakes and donate to the Primary Children’s Hospital.

One volunteer said she has been doing this for years.

“We have had very healthy grandchildren and children and we’re so blessed that way and so this way we can help those who have had problems and give back,” Primary Children’s Hospital volunteer Betty Klements said.

Miss Queen City of the Plains also came out to support the cause.

“I am here to help out with the Children’s Miracle Network,as a part of the Miss American Organization. That’s the national platform and so I’m just here to show my support,” Jaicelyn Shakespaere said.

This year’s goal is $10,000. By noon, the Ammon IHOPy had reached more than half.

The IHOP opened at 6 a.m. and will end the promotion at 7 p.m.
