Mud slide causes trail derailment in northern Idaho

A grain train has derailed because of a mud slide in Idaho’s Boundary County.

Boundary County Emergency Management says Wednesday’s derailment involved 12 cars.

Officials say the Union Pacific train was crossing the slide area when the vibrations of the train caused the area to let go. They say four rail cars with grain slid down the hill and another six to eight cars tipped over.
