Blackfoot Pool Bond fails to get supermajority

It was close, but not enough votes were cast in order to pass a bond to renovate the Blackfoot swimming pool. It failed by about 2 percent.

The vote was 572 (64.78%) for and 311 (35.22%) against. A 66.7% is needed to pass the measure.

The bond was asking for a $5-million that would renovate and expand the facility.

The building was first opened in 1973. Last year, the city looked at the physical building and evaluated the aquatics and electrical systems. City leaders wanted to update some of the features and possibly add a new waterslide, infant pool area and an indoor splash pad for kids.
