Idaho democrats call on Labrador to resign while running for Governor

Idaho democratic party leaders are calling on Congressman Raul Labrador to resign his House seat while he runs for Governor. House Minority Leader Mat Erpelding said Labrador should not collect a $174,000 annual salary, healthcare, and other benefits for serving in Congress in order to subsidize his ambition for higher office. “Idahoans share a common set of values including fairness, hard work, ethical leadership and fiscal responsibility,” said Erpelding. “By running for one office while holding another, Congressman Labrador is shirking his duties to the people who elected him while asking them to pay for his campaign. That is neither fiscally nor ethically responsible. He should resign his seat while running for governor.”
Erpelding said several states, including Georgia and Hawaii, have laws that require lawmakers to resign their current seats while seeking higher political office.
