The Halo Fund, stopping animal cruelty
There is a new push in the area for the humane treatment of animals. This comes after several incidents of family pets being cruelly treated.
The Snake River Animal Shelter is launching the Halo Fund to help educate the proper treatment of animals. The fund is named after a local family’s pet that was shot and killed in Idaho Falls three weeks ago.
“As we’ve recognized a significant number of [instances of] animal cruelty in the recent weeks, we thought some intervention needed to happen. What the community may not be aware of, is that animal cruelty is a precursor to human criminal violence. We don’t want to see that happen. We want individuals to know that if they’re a witness of animal cruelty to come forward,” Kristin Sanger, the executive director of the Snake River Animal Shelter said.
The Halo Fund will be dedicated to providing humane education opportunities for elementary through secondary aged children.
