‘One Town, One Love’

Skyline High School put on a “One Town, One Love” Unity Ceremony Friday morning by launching balloons to celebrate life. This was also to thank the community for its support after the deaths of two Skyline students in a car accident last month.

“I think it definitely brings the community together. Throughout the week, I’ve seen a lot of love shown towards each other, and it’s just brought everybody closer, and it’s made a lot of people happier and forget about the grieving and everything,” Katie Meldrum, a Skyline High School freshman, said.

A school event that brought the community together. Even Susan Bower, a student from Skyline’s very first graduating class, attended the event.

“When I heard about this, I thought, ‘I think this is a terrific community activity,’ and I’m just glad I can be here in support. I’m a member of the first graduating class at Skyline, 1967, so this year is my 50th anniversary and I’m so glad that the school is up and going and such a wonderful part of the community,” Bower said.

On Saturday, June 10th there will be a fundraiser to raise more money for the families affected by last month’s accident. There will be a bake sale, silent auction, raffles, and a community yard sale all at the Old Butte Soccer Complex in Idaho Falls.
