Oklahoma bill to allow city employees to carry concealed firearm on job heads to House for vote

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma (KOCO) — An Oklahoma bill that would allow city employees to carry a concealed firearm while on the job is heading to the full House for a vote.

House Bill 3069 would give city governments the authority to choose which employees should be allowed to carry a concealed weapon at work.

“This is not saying that they’ll be a police officer or have powers of arrest,” said state Rep. Robert Manger, R-Oklahoma City. “But it would give them the ability to carry a concealed weapon while they’re working. Municipalities can require additional training. It doesn’t mandate that they allow this. It just gives them the opportunity to do it.”

Anyone who does fire their weapon would be liable, according to the bill.
