Grand Teton opens comment on telecommunications plan

Grand Teton National Park has opened a 30-day public comment period on an environmental assessment addressing telecommunication services within developed areas of the park. The EA is focused on critical park operations, emergency services, and visitor information needs and expectations. The assessment analyzes the impact of potential designs and locations of telecommunication proposals over the next 20 years or more. The proposal includes installation of a fiber optic cable network and wireless communications facilities. The facilities could potentially connect to Yellowstone National Park’s south entrance and areas that see high volumes of visitors. The plan would also work to minimize the aesthetic impacts of towers and other infrastructure on natural and cultural resources. Public comments will be accepted through July 14, 2017.
