Emma Atchley completes term as Education Board President

Emma Atchley of Ashton has stepped aside as President of the Idaho State Board of Education. She will continue to serve on the board until her term expires in 2020. The board elected new officers during its annual meetings in Coeur d’Alene this week. Dr. Linda Clark was elected as President, Debbie Critchfield as Vice President and Dr. David Hill as Secretary. The State Board thanked Atchley for her service as President. “Under Emma’s leadership, the State Board continued its commitment to implementing the recommendations of the Governor’s Task Force for Improving Education. She also led the State Board in its work to create a seamless high school-to-college transition with an enhanced college and career advising initiative, as well as the NextSteps.Idaho.gov one-stop resource for Idahoans navigating going-on to higher education,” said Dr. Linda Clark, new President of the Idaho State Board of Education. The state board considers Idaho public education policies, sets tuition and fees for the state’s public colleges and universities, and governs public elementary, secondary, and higher education programs.
