Portneuf Health Trust to provide free bikes at Wellness Complex

Portneuf Health Trust is rounding up unused bicycles to be placed at the Portneuf Wellness Complex. The health trust hopes to permanently place at least 10 bikes at the Wellness Complex for the free use of anyone who wishes to ride them there. Barrie’s Ski and Sports will serve as a donation drop-off location. The business will then tune the bikes up and paint them so they are recognizable as free community bikes. “Our mission is to enhance and improve health in Southeast Idaho. We are always looking for ways to make it easier for people to be healthier and more active,” said Portneuf Health Trust CEO and President Shaun Menchaca. “We thought this would be a great program to implement and give people another active option at the Wellness Complex that they may not have the ability to do otherwise. Having bikes on site that people can use while they are at the Complex will be a great addition to the many amenities already there. We just ask that people are respectful and return the equipment so we can keep the program going for years to come.” The health trust will start the program with free community-donated bikes but will look into purchasing more of them and providing them at more locations if the program proves successful. Anyone interested in making a donation may leave their bicycles at Barrie’s Ski and Sports at 624 Yellowstone Avenue in Pocatello.
