Homes in small Utah town pass 2 years with unsafe water
Some homes in a small Utah County town have passed a two-year anniversary with unsafe tap water and no fix in sight.
KSL-TV in Salt Lake City reports Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox indicated on Twitter late Monday that he is looking into the boil-water advisory issued to five Goshen residents on July 28, 2015.
The order came after E. coli and other bacterial contamination was found in a spring supplying household water.
A state water manager has estimated the cost of installing a chlorination water purification system at $50,000.
Resident Richard Wolf says he’s tired of sponge baths and boiling his water. He says his mother was sickened last year from what doctors said was an E. Coli infection.
Goshen officials declined comment, but residents say the town provides free bottled water and has waived water bills.
