Teton Commissioners urge comment on CenturyLink proposal

Qwest Corporation, doing business as CenturyLink, has asked the Wyoming Public Service Commission to rule that residential and telecommunications services throughout Zone 2 and Zone 3 service areas have now grown to a point where they now face effective competition. That includes Jackson Hole. If approved, the ruling would mean that basic residential and business service would no longer be subject to any price regulation by the Wyoming Public Service Commission. The original deadline for public comment was July 21 but was extended 30 days on request of the Wyoming Farm Bureau, Wyoming Stock Growers, and the Wyoming County Commissioners Association. The new comment deadline is Monday, August 28. The Teton County, Wyoming Board of Commissioners is encouraging residents to comment on the CenturyLink petition. In a news release, the commissioners said approval of the CenturyLink request could affect customers’ rates in certain areas of Teton County. You can review the affected Zone 2 and Zone 3 areas here.
