Ash rains down on Pocatello
Pocatello citizens woke up to a surprising site this morning.
Ash rained down onto cars, sidewalks and grass. The ash is coming from the Powerline Fire which originated from Fort Hall Indian Reservation. There has been an air quality advisory issued for Bannock County. So far, the fire has burned about 30,000 acres with no set time frame for containment. While the fire is close to Pocatello, Mayor Brian Blad says there is no reason for concern just yet.
“I would say just pay attention to it,” Mayor Blad said. “Look at the Facebook post, the city will be posting things on Facebook. Look at the news. If you do get a reverse 911 call then we’ll get pretty nervous about it and get serious about it.”
There have been some road closures because of the fire. Arbon Valley Highway, Michaud Creek Road and Trail Creek Road are closed until further notice.
