Idaho Falls accepts Civic Auditorium donation

The Idaho Falls City Council has accepted a $750,000 donation from William J. Maeck to help renovate the interior of the Idaho Falls Civic Auditorium over the next 2 years. The donation will be matched with $750,000 by the city. Idaho Falls will put up $400,000 in Fiscal Year 2017-18 and review another $350,000 commitment in the next budget year. The first phase of the renovation project will include new seating, acoustic improvements, paint, and installation of an electronic marquee on Holmes Avenue. The multi-year effort was outlined by a Civic Auditorium Committee appointed by Mayor Rebecca Casper. In appreciation of the donation, the interior of the auditorium, including the foyer, general public seating, stage, and orchestra pit, will be named the “William and Shirley Maeck Auditorium.” You can find out more about the auditorium here.
