Davis moves closer to becoming U.S. Attorney

Idaho Falls State Senator Bart Davis is a step closer to becoming Idaho’s next U.S. Attorney.

The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee approved Davis’ nomination by voice-vote Thursday morning. A confirmation vote has yet to be scheduled, but Idaho Senators Mike Crapo and Jim Risch said they would work to assure a swift nomination.

Crapo said, “With his extensive legal background and experience in public service, Senator Davis embodies the sound legal judgment required to uphold the law while justly prosecuting those charged with crimes.”

Crapo is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

“Senator Davis is a committed public servant who has my full confidence. Together, Mike Crapo and I will work to bring his nomination to the Senate floor as expeditiously as possible,” said Crapo.

Davis has represented the 33rd District in the Idaho State Senate for the past 19 years, including as Majority Leader for 15 years. In addition to his service in the Idaho State Senate, Senator Davis is currently in private practice in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where he focuses on commercial, regulatory, and transactional work. He is currently a commissioner to the Uniform Law Commission and a past chairman of The Council of State Governments. He is a graduate of Brigham Young University and the University of Idaho College of Law.
