IF Mayor to face 4-way challenge in November

Incumbent Idaho Falls Mayor Rebecca Casper will face a four-way challenge at the polls in November.

Casper will face incumbent City Councilwoman Barbara Ehardt, Ronald Jorde, Kenly Ryan Osterhout, and incumbent State Representative Jeff Thompson.

Incumbent City Councilman David Smith will face a challenge from educator Shelly Smede for Council Seat #2.

Educator Jim Francis and former city administrator Craig Lords will seek City Council Seat #4. Incumbent Ed Marohn is not seeking re-election.

And, in Seat #6, currently held by Ehardt, James “Jim” Freeman will face Daniel “Dan” Jess Beck in November.

People have until October 10 to file the necessary paperwork to be considered a valid write-in candidate during the November election.
