Coroner identifies man who died in mobile home fire

A mobile home on south 5th Ave. in Pocatello catches fire early Wednesday morning.

POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) - UPDATE 3/29/22: The Bannock County Coroner’s Office, in cooperation with the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office, has confirmed the identity of the deceased following the mobile home fire on the 6300 block of South Fifth Avenue in Pocatello on March 23.

Officials identified the man as 76-year-old Richard G. Sergi Pocatello.

Next of kin has been notified. The fire remains under investigation by the Idaho State Fire Marshal’s Office.


ORIGINAL: A man was saved from a mobile home fire in Pocatello Wednesday morning.

The Bannock County Sheriff's office says neighbors helped deputies rescue a man who was inside when the fire started.

The home was located on south 5th Avenue and started just before 7:30 a.m.

Officials said the man suffered some burns, but didn't know how severe they were.

The home is a complete loss and two others were damaged along with a car. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
