Pocatello leaf collection program starts November 13

The City of Pocatello Sanitation Department’s leaf collection program starts Monday, November 13.

Leaves will be picked up on your regularly scheduled trash pickup days, and officials ask you have everything ready by 7 a.m. to ensure pickup.

If you are part of the city’s yard waste collection program, you do not need to use compostable bags and are asked to put the leaves directly in your yard waste autocart. If you have more leaves than your yard waste autocart can hold, put the leaves in compostable bags and place the bags on the curb on the regularly scheduled trash pickup day.

The department asks everyone else uses compostable bags which can be purchased at local stores in the area.

The city said leaves that are left on the curb in plastic bags will not be picked up and asks you put leaves in plastic bags in your regular trash autocart.

Collected leaves are taken to Bannock County’s compost collection area where they are utilized as a material in the creation of compost.

Leaf collection ends December 3.
