Local firefighters deploy to California wildfires

Upper Valley fire departments are mustering firefighters and equipment to assist firefighting efforts in California.

A total of four engines are being deployed thru the Bureau of Land Management fire center in Idaho Falls. They include 1 BLM engine, a Madison Fire Department brush truck, and fire engines from the Teton and Swan Valley fire departments.

BLM spokesperson Sarah Wheeler said there are over 20 local firefighters joining the deployment. They include 3 from Madison and one from the Idaho Falls Fire Department.

She said the request for assistance came from California Wednesday.

One truck deployed Wednesday and 3 more were deployed Thursday morning. They all expect to arrive at Chino, California tonight or Friday morning.
