Bridger Teton withdraws over-snow use map
The U.S. Forest Service is withdrawing the Over-Snow Vehicle Use Map for the Teton Division of the Bridger Teton National Forest. The map was published on February 2, 2017. According to the Forest Service, the map will no longer be in force or effect.
The agency said it was withdrawing the map to allow time for further review of issues raised by WildEarth Guardians, Winter Wildlands Alliance and the Wilderness Society.
A new over-snow vehicle use map for the area will not be issued by the Forest Service until the review is complete. That will not happen, in any case, before April 1, 2018.
As a result of the action, the Forest Service will implement decisions regarding the closures and restrictions that were in effect before February 2, 2017.
Additional short-term orders may be issued for resource protection or public health and safety.
Copies of applicable maps and orders are available at the Jackson or Blackrock Ranger District offices or at the forest website here.
